Brice Lauvergeon alters the building by inscribing the word “Mehrdeutig” on the glass doors of the entrance. ‘Mehrdeutig’ is written in gothic font and surrounded by a crown of laurels. Writing the word “ambiguous” in German, he manipulates a certain aesthetic and symbolism to underline the historical references to which this work can be associated (Nazism, skinheads, hooligans as well as anti-racist groups such as Redskins or SHARP…) and which are used today in magazines, fashion or graphic design. By carving this directly into the window, he radically and definitively produces a way to affirm one’s identity: through tattoos.
