GENERATOR

Initiated and managed by 40mcube centre for contemporary art, in partnership with the company Self Signal, GENERATOR is a certifying*, free professional training program for visual artists and an international curatorial residency.

Each year, a jury of professionals consisting of an independant curator or a person in charge of an art centre, an artist-author and a member of 40mcube selects four visual artists who have graduated for at least two years, and gives them the means to focus entirely on their artistic practice for a period of seven months. They develop their research, produce new works, build their professional networks and acquire administrative, accounting, legal and methodological skills specific to their activity.

Artists are offered individual support, a collective studio, funding and privileged meetings with contemporary art professionals working in France and abroad.

The jury also selects two to four curators each year for a one-month prospection trip in Brittany. They meet with artists and professionals living in the region and write two texts on the work of the artists in the programme.

With the collaboration of the art centres La Criée (Rennes) and Passerelle (Brest), the Frac Brittany, the Archives de la critique d\\\\'art (Rennes), Documents d\\\\'artistes Bretagne and a.c.b. - art contemporain en Bretagne, GENERATOR brings together and makes available to artists and curators the critical and technical skills gathered in Brittany, a dynamic territory with numerous contemporary art structures dedicated to exhibitions, collections, research and publishing.
